Explore the Province of Trapani located on the West Coast of Sicily. Throughout history, this area has been ruled by many cultures including the Phoenicians, Arabs, and Greeks. Enjoy the distinct influence each of these cultures has had on food, culture and the architecture of the region. From the medieval streets of Erice, to the seaside Baroque town of Marsala, and Egadi Island with Favignana, this area offers something for everyone!
Friday, May 23
Depart at 6 a.m. from NAS I and drive to the West Coast. Arrive in Selinunte, one of the largest archeological sites with some of the most extensive ruins in Sicily! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes on this day, as you will be walking around this extremely large and hilly area. During the day, we will have lunch (included) based on a fish menu. *At registration, please request an alternate meal if needed for this day. After lunch, we will check in at Baglio Oneto Resort. This evening, dinner (included) will be hosted at the hotel.
Saturday, May 24
After breakfast (included), we will drive to the Archeological Museum of Marsala, known for its display of the wreckage of a Punic Ship. Next, we will visit Florio Winery, where a light lunch and wine tasting will be served (included). In the afternoon, visit the salt flats in Marsala where you will enjoy one of the best sunsets in Sicily. Dinner this evening will be held at the hotel (included).
Sunday, May 25
After breakfast (included), depart from the hotel for our day trip to Favignana, the largest and the most attractive island of the Egadi Archipelago, located roughly off the west coast of Sicily. There will be the opportunity to visit the former Tuna Factory owned by the famous Florio family in 1859. After this tour, there will be time to have lunch (on your own) and shop around in Favignana. We will return to our hotel in the late afternoon for a special dinner and wine tasting (included).
Monday, May 26
After breakfast (included), we will check out of the hotel. After checking out, visit the medieval town of Erice and experience the unique entrance to this town via cable car. After our tour of Erice, we will stop for lunch (included) at a local restaurant. Departure from Erice will be 3 p.m. with a return to base at around 9 p.m.
