In 1905, the American Red Cross (ARC) was chartered by the United States Congress to provide two services: disaster relief and services to members of the United States Armed Forces.
Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) is the worldwide program through which the ARC provides emergency communications and other services to the members of the United States Armed Forces and their families.
